2024-02-02

The inaugural day of the Teachers Training organized by the West Africa Centre for Peace Foundation, brought together 40 educators. Participants engaged in an exhilarating and insightful group exercise, encouraging them to generate ideas under each pillar that contributes to the broader concept of peace. Collaboratively, participants produced insightful perspectives during group presentations, culminating in impassioned call for participants to initiate the journey of peace within themselves and their sphere of contact, fostering a prosperous future.

Participants were introduced to the 14 PeaceJam Noble Peace Laureates and elucidated their pivotal role in fostering peace within their respective communities, nations and the world at large. Facilitator Wisdom Addo, highlighted the upcoming PeaceJam Ghana Youth Leadership Conference, titled "Envisioning Peace: Embracing the Power of Peace," scheduled for June 14-16, 2024, featuring Leymah Gbowee, the 2011 Nobel Peace laureate, highlighting her instrumental role in leading women to end the civil war in Liberia. Subsequently, Wisdom directed the focus towards the vital role of an adult facilitator in shaping students for a promising future underscoring the pivotal responsibilities that adult advisors must shoulder in guiding their students toward success.

The goal was to empower teachers to impart this knowledge to their students, enabling them to recognize and address challenges within their communities guided by the Billion Acts of Peace Campaign. The overarching aim is to equip students with problem-solving skills that extend beyond the classroom, engaged in community service projects and contribute to positive change in their communities.
