900+ youth selected from the junior, senior high schools and the University of Ghana students across the country participated in the PeaceJam 2021 /2022 programming year. WACPF held a residential two-day youth leadership conference at the University of Ghana, Mensah Sarbah Hall. The peacejammers, mentors, volunteers and teachers were accommodated in a residential facility at the Mensah Sarbah Hall for the conference. The event also brought together participants from the UK, USA, Turkey, Liberia, Nigeria and South Africa. The guest speaker for the conference was the 2011 Nobel Peace Laureate Tawakkol Karman from Yemen. Tawakkol shared what inspired her in her non-violent efforts to promoting peace and her struggle for women’s rights in Yemen. Participants especially young people have been tasked by the visiting laurate to take small initiatives on their own ways to change themselves, their school, their communities and the world at large.
